Cookiebot

Scans websites for cookies and trackers, presents a configurable consent banner, and logs visitor consents for compliance.

What it does

Cookiebot is a consent management platform (CMP) that discovers cookies and client-side trackers on websites, presents visitors with a configurable consent experience, and records consent choices for compliance reporting. It is used by website owners and privacy teams who need an automated cookie inventory, consent gating for scripts, and consent records. Automated site scanning and cookie inventory Cookiebot crawls and renders site pages to discover cookies and client-side tracking technologies, then classifies them into categories such as necessary, preference, statistics, and marketing. Scans can be scheduled and produce a machine-readable cookie declaration that can be published to visitors. Client-side prior blocking of nonessential scripts The platform prevents nonessential cookies and scripts from running until a visitor’s consent is determined by disabling or gating the elements that set cookies on the client side. Cookiebot’s approach is client-side; it does not block network traffic at the HTTP layer. Consent banner, customization and geo-targeting Cookiebot provides a customizable consent banner and user interface that can be localized, styled, and targeted by region. The banner supports language auto-detection and different configurations to meet regional rules such as GDPR and CCPA/CPRA. Consent logging and reporting Cookiebot records consent metadata (timestamps and granular choices) and exposes consent logs and downloadable reports through the Cookiebot Manager. These records can be used to demonstrate consent and to populate a public cookie declaration for site visitors. Integrations and deployment notes Cookiebot is installed via a JavaScript snippet and supports multi-domain management, Google Tag Manager, Consent Mode v2 helpers, and a WordPress plugin for easier installation. Sites with highly dynamic content or single-page apps may require additional scanner configuration so that all pages and trackers are discoverable by the crawler.
