PostHog
Product analytics, session replay and feature flags for teams that instrument and iterate on digital products.
What it does
What PostHog does and who uses it PostHog is an analytics platform used by product, engineering and support teams to collect event data, run product-analytics queries, record sessions and manage feature rollouts from a single toolset. Teams use it to answer conversion and retention questions, debug UX issues with replays, and run experiments tied to the same event stream. Product analytics and custom queries PostHog captures event streams (autocapture or manual events) and provides product-analytics workflows such as funnels, retention and path analysis. It also exposes a built-in SQL editor so teams can run custom queries against the collected data to answer bespoke product questions and build cohorts. Session replay with sampling and triggers PostHog records user sessions (DOM and input playback) and links replays to events and user records. Recording can be limited by sampling, URL rules or event triggers so teams can focus storage and review on the sessions that matter for UX debugging, support triage and bug verification. Feature flags and experiments The platform includes feature-flag management and experiment analysis. Flags can be evaluated through PostHog SDKs (remote or local evaluation) and experiments use PostHog’s analysis tools, including a Bayesian option, so teams can run staged rollouts, canaries and A/B tests using the same analytics data. SDKs, integrations and data residency PostHog provides SDKs for web, mobile and server platforms and supports data export to warehouses and connectors for pipeline workflows. The product is available as Cloud or self-hosted; docs describe privacy controls (IP capture disabling, sampling) and cloud regions for residency. Note: PostHog documents that self-hosting requires more operational effort and that some advanced features are cloud-focused.
