Onetrust
A consent management platform that captures, stores and signals user privacy choices across web, mobile and server-side environments.
What it does
OneTrust Consent Management helps organizations collect, store and apply user privacy choices across websites, mobile apps and server-side environments. It’s used by product and engineering teams who need configurable consent interfaces, developer APIs for enforcement, and audit-ready consent records for compliance. Banner and preference center OneTrust provides configurable cookie banners and a customizable preference center so visitors can set purpose- and vendor-level choices. The system logs selections for audit and can show different experiences per property or region. Integrations with tag managers and marketing systems OneTrust maps consent categories to signals used by tag managers and ad/analytics platforms (for example Google Consent Mode). The product includes cataloged integrations and guides for common tag managers so consent state can control tag behavior. Client-side JavaScript APIs and callbacks A documented JavaScript API exposes consent state, change callbacks and event hooks for in-page enforcement. These APIs let developers delay or gate scripts until consent is available, though correct timing and wiring are the implementer’s responsibility. Server-side CMP API and headless mode OneTrust exposes server-side endpoints that return computed banner logic, vendor lists and consent state so teams can render UIs or enforce decisions in server-rendered pages, mobile backends and SSR sites without relying solely on client-side scripts. Governance, logging and reporting The platform stores consent records and provides reporting and audit trails intended to support GDPR/CCPA and other privacy obligations as part of its broader privacy governance capabilities.
