Looker Studio
Web-based reporting and dashboard builder for connecting data sources, creating interactive visuals, and sharing reports.
What it does
Looker Studio is Google’s web-based reporting and dashboard tool for analysts, marketers and teams who need interactive reports built from multiple data sources. Data connectors and reusable data sources Looker Studio connects to Google products (BigQuery, Google Analytics/GA4, Google Ads, Google Sheets, Cloud Storage) and to third-party/community connectors. Users create reusable Data Sources that surface fields for charts, letting you combine analytics, ad and spreadsheet data in a single report. Visualizations, calculated fields and interactivity Build charts and controls with a drag-and-drop editor: tables, time series, bar and geo charts, scorecards and filter/date controls. You can add calculated fields, filters and controls to create interactive KPI dashboards and on-the-fly metrics without external preprocessing. Sharing, scheduled exports and embedding Reports use Google-style sharing controls (user/group permissions or public links), can be exported to PDF/CSV, scheduled for email delivery, and embedded in sites or apps via iframe or signed embed flows for stakeholder distribution. Data freshness, caching and operational tradeoffs Looker Studio caches query results and exposes freshness controls so you can balance latency and query cost. Complex reports that call many connectors can face rendering or scheduled-export timeouts, and organization policies that disable Apps Script may block some community connectors.
Is it a fit for your work?
Google’s Data Studio, formerly Looker Studio, is a reporting canvas for interactive dashboards. The old name remains in this listing so existing links still work. It suits teams that want control over the layout and are happy to own their report definitions.
Who it suits
PPC specialists building custom reports and teams with someone responsible for maintaining them.
Jobs to consider it for
- Build an interactive dashboard around the decisions in a client meeting.
- Share a consistent view of performance with your team.
What to check first
A dashboard does not reconcile inconsistent metric definitions for you. Check data access, connector costs and who will maintain the report when its original author leaves.
Build a single page with spend, the business outcome and one comparison period. Have someone unfamiliar with the account explain what action they would take from it.
Pricing and access
A no-cost edition is available. Pro, third-party connectors and underlying data services can add costs.
Vendor documentation plus editorial guidance, not a hands-on product test. Check the vendor’s current offer before choosing.
