Before you choose

Check the markets and service model

Google’s Comparison Shopping Services programme covers specified European markets. Confirm that a partner supports the countries you sell in, then ask whether its service is self-managed, managed or a combination. Google documents several service models, so compare the responsibilities included in the offer.

Compare the commercial terms together

Ask for the full fee structure and explain your current Merchant Center and Google Ads setup. Check account access, support, onboarding and how a switch would be handled. Read any claimed saving alongside the service charge and conditions, and ask which parts depend on your own advertising performance.

Make ownership and support explicit

Confirm who owns and manages each account, who investigates product or account issues and what happens if you leave. Keep those responsibilities in writing before switching. A partner should fit the way your shop and advertising team work, including the people who deal with problems after onboarding.

Questions worth asking

Does choosing a CSS partner replace feed management?
Compare them as separate jobs. Ask what product-data work the partner includes, what remains with your shop or feed tool and who fixes rejected products. Do not assume the CSS service includes catalogue maintenance.
